In biblical times sex out of marriage could lead to a woman having to raise children on her own. This would have meant the children would have suffered. It is therefore why I believe that the bible frowned upon sex out of wed lock. Even today with social care it is still not advisable to have sex out of marriage unless precautions are taken to prevent children coming into the world without having two loving parents.
