When people are just getting to know each other, current events are often an important way to start into conversations. These may lead to discussions about each other\u2019s personal philosophies and thoughts, and that\u2019s good because you\u2019re learning about each other. Before a date, and preferably each day, take a good look at the top news stories.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Know the basic \u201cget-to-know-you\u201d ways of starting or keeping a conversation going.<\/span> These are hobbies, pets, family, job, college or military service, recent vacations and other innocuous subjects that anyone can talk about. A good way to fix this is to ask her about herself. Don\u2019t ask questions that she can answer with a yes or a no. Instead, say this: \u201cSo, Sara. You said that you volunteer building homes for Habitats for Humanity. What was your favorite project so far?\u201d It\u2019s possible that she could come up with a real short answer to this, but it\u2019s more likely that because you\u2019ve asked her about something that\u2019s important to her, she\u2019ll give you a longer answer that\u2019s likely to spawn more conversation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Don\u2019t just talk about yourself.<\/span> See that she gets time to share her story. If you can have a nice conversation about your differences that\u2019s great, but when it comes to sensitive subjects such as politics, religion or anything else that\u2019s touchy, tread lightly and don\u2019t insult her.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">It\u2019s okay to <a href=\"https:\/\/christian.bestsingledating.com\/index.php\/dating-advice\/2334\/when-is-humor-right-to-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inject humor<\/a><\/span> as long as it\u2019s not at your date\u2019s expense or just cruel or distasteful.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">It\u2019s okay to <a href=\"https:\/\/christian.bestsingledating.com\/index.php\/dating-advice\/268\/ways-to-compliment-a-lady\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">give compliments<\/a>, as long as they aren\u2019t sappy or scary.<\/span> Telling her that she has a great laugh is cool.
